Ocean Institute Tall Ships
Set sail aboard the schooner Spirit of Dana Point and experience California from the perspective of an early tall ship explorer. Join the crew to help raise sail, handle lines and steer the ship, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the majesty of sailing the seas aboard a tall ship. Offering group trips every Saturday (weather permitting) and youth field trip programs, including an overnight trip aboard one of their schooners.

Tall Ships Festival
The Tall Ships Festival started in 1984 and is the Ocean Institute’s premier annual event, drawing thousands to Dana Point’s beautiful harbor. This must-see annual festival takes place every September and celebrates California's rich maritime history and our connection to the ocean. The highlight of this event is the mock cannon wars each evening around 6 p.m. The best viewing for this event is either aboard one of the tall ships or from a private charter boat.
