Programs great for kids
Dana Point Harbor offers many great youth program that introduce kids to sailing. Most of these programs are open to the public and no yacht club membership is required. Even better, some of the programs are offered free by the yacht clubs and the Dana Point Youth Foundation, a nonprofit organization supported by donations from the public.
Dana Point Yacht Club Youth Sailing Program
Whether for pure fun or the excitement of competitive sailing, Dana Point Yacht Club provides the opportunity for youth to become involved in sailing at all levels, from learning to sail to advanced racing. They have an outstanding summer sailing program that is open to both club members and to the public. The Dana Point Yacht Club works with the Dana Point Harbor Youth Foundation to maintain one of the largest fleets of foundation owned Lasers.
Dana West Yacht Club Junior Sailing
Dana West Yacht Club has a fleet of more than 25 boats that includes RS Teras, Lasers, CFJs and Naples Sabots that are provided free for use at their summer camp, open sailing in the off season, Wednesday evening harbor racing in the summer and local regattas throughout the year. DWYC's U.S. Sailing-certified instructors grew up at DWYC. They know the club, the harbor, the boats and each other. Summer camp is open to children ages 8 to 18 and does not require membership to the club. The camp is held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch is provided on Fridays.
